SOUND RESIDENCY WITH 209 RADIO feb 2006

a week long sound residency at '209'>> community radio in Cambridge, usually an internet radio station, 209 had been granted a temporary licence to broadcast on FM in the local area. Simon Keep along with artist Kirsten Lavers scheduled the weekend broadcast. The process resulted in 'Silent Sunday': a day dedicated to the broadcast of silence in its many forms including silent interviews with strangers in a black taxi, silent recordings/compositions and a panel discussion. We also performed a laptop version of John Cage's 4 33.

on saturday we remixed material from the stations archive. In the evening we picked a film that was on was TV and created a live re-score to it. People could watch "Final Destination" on TV with the sound turned down and listen to our new sound track live over the radio. In the studio there were three Foley artists, one voiceover and Karl (the station manager) mixing sound effects and music.
